The 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Spain, Morocco and Portugal, will be “a success for world football,” said on Wednesday the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Rafael Louzán.
In a welcome speech of a FIFA delegation on an inspection mission, Louzán stressed that the journey toward this “centenary World Cup” will be “a success for world football,” thanks to the synergy between the three partner countries, the RFEF posted on the social network X.
The technical visit, which began Monday in Barcelona, is part of the evaluation process of candidate sites for hosting the competition.
On Tuesday, FIFA experts visited La Romareda stadium in Zaragoza, where they held working sessions with representatives of local authorities, the Aragonese Football Federation (FAF), as well as teams of architects and engineers in charge of the stadium’s modernization project.
Alongside these field visits, Spain has strengthened its institutional preparations, by creating interministerial working groups on March 5 tasked with coordinating public action in strategic areas such as security, the legal framework, transport, accommodation, technology and communication, with the aim of ensuring smooth and integrated organization.
The Spanish bid is based on an initial selection of eleven stadiums across nine cities, complementing the high-quality hosting offer presented by Morocco and Portugal.
