A member of the political bureau of Morocco’s National Rally of Independents, Karim Zidane said at a regional party meeting in Oujda that Moroccans living abroad are a major asset for the country and a source of national pride because of their achievements across the world.

Zidane said the Moroccan diaspora remains deeply attached to the kingdom despite years abroad, adding that his own 35 year experience of migration had shown him the strength of that bond. He said Moroccans overseas now hold positions in major institutions, companies and research centers, making them an important resource for Morocco economically, scientifically and socially.

He said their contribution goes beyond remittances, describing them as “exceptional ambassadors” for Morocco because of their role in promoting the country’s image and investment potential. Zidane added that many projects in Morocco were launched on the initiative of Moroccans abroad.

At the same meeting, party leader Mohamed Oujar said the RNI remains committed to continuity, reform and internal unity under its current leadership.
