Morocco ranked 68th out of 120 countries in the Global Labor Market Resilience Index for 2026, placing it among countries that improved their performance over the past year, according to a report by WhiteShield.

Morocco scored 44.57 out of 100 in the index, which assesses how labor markets respond to economic disruption and technological change. The consultancy, which specializes in public policy and artificial intelligence economics, classified Morocco among the report’s “gainers,” a group of countries showing noticeable year-on-year improvements.

Other countries in this category include the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Georgia and Jordan.

The report noted that Morocco has made steady gains in economic stability, trade engagement and workforce participation. However, it said challenges remain, particularly in productivity levels and income disparities.

Several factors contributed to Morocco’s progress, including improvements in cybersecurity, rising labor force participation and the development of basic digital skills. These advances have helped the country better absorb economic shocks and adapt to shifting labor market conditions.

At the same time, the report said deeper transformation related to artificial intelligence and advanced digital technologies remains limited, highlighting an area where further progress is needed.

Regionally, Morocco benefits from a more diversified economy than many neighboring countries, with relatively strong industrial and services sectors. It is also integrated into global automotive and aerospace value chains.

However, the report cautioned that Morocco’s labor market remains closely tied to European demand, leaving it exposed to economic fluctuations in Europe.

Within the broader Middle East and North Africa region, labor markets continue to show lower demand for business and management graduates and slower growth in these fields. Despite these constraints, Morocco’s recent gains reflect progress in strengthening labor market resilience and adapting to global economic shifts.
