Local authorities in Al Haouz province said Sunday that three people, two Moroccan tourists and a mountain guide, went missing after a sudden snow avalanche struck the Toubkal mountain area.

According to the same sources, the missing individuals were part of a tourist group accompanied by two guides. The group spent the night at a mountain shelter in the area before setting off early Sunday toward the village of Imlil. The remaining members of the group managed to survive the incident and return safely to the shelter.

Local authorities, in coordination with civil protection services, security forces and specialized rescue teams, immediately launched search and sweep operations to locate the missing persons, despite harsh weather conditions affecting the mountainous region.

Authorities said search efforts are ongoing, with all available human and logistical resources mobilized in an attempt to reach the missing individuals as quickly as possible.
