Authorities have launched an investigation after the bodies of a man and a woman were found in a house in the city center on Wednesday.
Sources told Hespress that the two individuals, who were staying in the residence temporarily, had not been seen for some time. Neighbors eventually alerted local authorities and the police after noticing a foul odor coming from the property near the “Souiqa” market area.
Police and civil defense teams entered the home and discovered the lifeless bodies. While the nature of the relationship between the two is unknown, initial evidence suggests accidental carbon monoxide poisoning. The man was found wearing bathing attire, while the woman was found fully clothed in a separate room.
The Public Prosecutor at the El Jadida Court of Appeal has ordered the bodies to be transferred to the Mohammed V Provincial Hospital. Autopsies are scheduled for Thursday to determine the exact cause of death.
