Egypt advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Ivory Coast on Saturday night at Adrar Stadium in Agadir.

The Pharaohs made a strong start and opened the scoring in the fourth minute through Manchester City winger Omar Marmoush, who finished a solo move following an assist from Emam Ashour.

Egypt doubled its lead in the 32nd minute when defender Rami Rabia headed home from a corner kick delivered by Mohamed Salah. Ivory Coast pulled one back eight minutes later after Egypt’s Ahmed Fattouh inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.

Egypt restored its two-goal cushion early in the second half, with Salah scoring in the 52nd minute after another assist from Ashour, who played a key role in all three Egyptian goals.

Ivory Coast responded in the 72nd minute through Guéla Doué, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to make it 3-2, but Egypt held on to secure the win.

Egypt will face Senegal in the semifinals on Wednesday at Tangier’s Grand Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. local time.
