Morocco set up judicial desks inside stadiums hosting the Africa Cup of Nations and used them to process about 60 cases of reported offences with immediate decisions, Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi said on Wednesday.
Ouahbi said the cases were handled inside the venues where matches were played, with penalties issued on the spot and fines paid at the stadium, avoiding transfers to police stations.
He spoke in Rabat at the opening of an international conference on the security of major sports events, hosted by the justice ministry with Moroccan security bodies and regional partners, and supported by international organisations.
Morocco is staging the Africa Cup of Nations and preparing to co host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
Ouahbi said the on site system showed how legal and security services can respond quickly during mass events.
The ministry did not specify the types of offences involved
