Hundreds of mourners gathered Sunday at the Jewish cemetery in Casablanca to bid farewell to Moroccan activist Sion Assidon, a prominent leftist figure and outspoken advocate for the Palestinian cause.
Assidon, who came from a Moroccan Jewish family, was buried according to Jewish rites in the presence of relatives, friends, and fellow activists.
Palestinian flags and keffiyehs were raised during the funeral, symbolizing his lifelong defense of Palestinian rights and his staunch opposition to normalization with Israel.
Members of the Moroccan Front in Support of Palestine and Against Normalization paid tribute to Assidon, vowing to remain “faithful to his message of justice and resistance.”
