Women account for 52 percent of employees at Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and hold 57 percent of management posts, the ministry said in figures disclosed to parliament.
Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni said in a written response to lawmaker Driss Sentissi that women occupy 32 percent of division head roles and 57 percent of service head positions, while they represent 53 percent of participants in training programs. The ministry, she said, is working to embed gender equality in the public sector and ensure fair representation in decision-making posts.
El Fallah Seghrouchni said the ministry began institutionalizing a gender strategy in 2016 with UN Women, establishing a framework to promote equal access to jobs and career progression in public administration. She added that recent initiatives aim to help women balance work and family life, including a nursery opened in February in partnership with the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development.
The minister said the department continues to apply equality principles in recruitment and training, with programs targeting women engineers to strengthen their digital skills and support Morocco’s digital transformation agenda.
According to the latest data, the ministry counts four women directors, 10 division heads and 29 service heads. El Fallah Seghrouchni said these figures reflect “steady progress” toward parity in the civil service and reaffirmed her commitment to enforcing legal and regulatory measures to ensure equal access to
