Morocco’s direct housing support program (2024–2029), launched under royal directives, has received over 166,000 applications, with youth and women making up the majority of beneficiaries, Housing Minister Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri said Tuesday.
Speaking before the House of Councillors, El Mansouri said 63 percent of applicants are under 40, with more than 36,000 young beneficiaries so far. Women account for 44.5 percent of all recipients, while 63 percent received the 70,000-dirham grant and 37 percent benefited from the 100,000-dirham grant. The total youth investment reached 15.2 billion dirhams, including 2.96 billion dirhams in state contributions.
El Mansouri said the program aims to boost citizens’ purchasing power, promote social equity, and attract housing investment, particularly in small and medium cities. To ensure transparency, a digital platform was created to process applications, and a deal with notaries caps transaction fees at 2,500 dirhams for homes under 300,000 dirhams.
On urban planning, the minister noted that 90 percent of Morocco’s 1,503 municipalities now have at least one planning document, with 405 new plans approved during the current government term, including 269 urban blueprints and 135 rural growth plans.
