Government spokesman Mustapha Baitas said Thursday that only 34 percent of applicants have benefited from Morocco’s new housing subsidy program since its launch.
Out of 198,064 applications submitted, only 66,305 beneficiaries were approved by the end of September, he said following the weekly cabinet meeting.
According to Baitas, beneficiaries under 30 years old account for 37 percent, women 47 percent, and Moroccans living abroad 24 percent.
Some 62 percent of applications concerned properties priced between 300,000 and 700,000 dirhams, while 38 percent were for units.
