Morocco coach Walid Regragui said Thursday that “there is no Moroccan in the world who does not want quality education and health,” voicing hope that recent demands by Gen Z youth will be achieved “with respect and without violence.”
Speaking at a press conference to announce his squad for the Bahrain friendly and World Cup qualifier against Congo, Regragui defended the choice of Bahrain as an opponent, citing scheduling constraints.
He also praised the U20 team led by Mohamed Ouahbi, calling their victories over Spain and Brazil at the World Cup in Chile proof of Morocco’s growing football stature.
Regragui stressed that pressure remains high on the senior team despite injuries, noting the lack of a reliable replacement for veteran defender Romain Saïss. He also lauded Achraf Hakimi’s form, saying the PSG star “deserved the Ballon d’Or.”
