Moroccan police referred two men, aged 20 and 23, to the public prosecutor on Sunday on suspicion of involvement in a cryptocurrency fraud case.
According to local Hespress AR sources, the first suspect was arrested in Tetouan, where he was wanted under two national arrest warrants for fraud. Continued investigations led authorities to identify and arrest the second suspect in Beni Mellal.
The suspects reportedly used social media platforms to defraud victims by offering fake cryptocurrency sales, allowing them to embezzle significant sums of money.
Police searches recovered mobile phones believed to contain digital evidence related to the criminal activity.
Both suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues under the supervision of the public prosecutor to determine the full scope of the fraud and each individual’s level of involvement.
