Morocco’s National Human Rights Council (CNDH) will hold a roundtable on Monday afternoon to debate draft law 026.25, which seeks to reorganize the National Press Council, a source told Hespress.
The meeting will bring together all stakeholders, including government representatives, to examine the proposals and arguments linked to the legislation, described as a “vital text regulating the journalism profession.” The discussions, prepared by the council’s studies and research directorate, come ahead of a study day organized by the upper house’s education and cultural affairs committee in the coming days.
The initiative follows earlier consultations launched by the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication with the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, reflecting ongoing scrutiny of the bill before its parliamentary adoption.
According to the source, opinions from governance institutions are “crucial” in shaping such legislation. Monday’s closed-door session will precede broader debates in parliament, where members of both legislative chambers have been invited. However, the head of the lower house’s education and communication committee is expected to miss the session due to official commitments.
