Morocco’s manufacturing sector is expected to expand in the third quarter of 2025, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
Survey results indicate growth driven by the food, chemical and non-metallic mineral industries, though the automotive and electrical equipment branches are projected to contract. Employment levels across manufacturing are anticipated to remain stable despite the mixed trends.
In the extractive sector, companies expect output to increase, mainly on the back of higher phosphate production, with jobs holding steady.
Energy production is also seen rising due to stronger electricity, gas and steam supply, though employment is likely to edge down. Environmental industries anticipate stability in both output and staffing, especially in water treatment and distribution.
The outlook follows a second quarter marked by growth in chemicals, automotive and beverages, offset by weaker performance in electrical equipment and clothing.
The rate of capacity use stood at 74%, while nearly 40% of firms cited difficulties sourcing raw materials, particularly imports.
Cash flow was described as difficult by 19% of managers, rising to 30% in rubber and plastics. Mining output contracted in Q2 on lower phosphate production, while energy output rose but with fewer jobs.
