A Moroccan police officer has filed a complaint with the public prosecutor at the Casablanca Court of Appeals after a social media account accused him of involvement in fabricated crimes, the country’s security services said Sunday.
In a joint statement, Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST) said the officer, identified as A.N., reported the account named “Jabarout” for publishing false claims, using forged documents, and sharing his personal information, including his private phone number.
The officer, who has worked in administrative roles for years and has never held field or operational duties, was surprised to see his name linked to alleged crimes and false information circulated online, the statement said.
Authorities said the DGSN-DGST unit will provide the officer with full legal support under the “state protection” principle, which guarantees police personnel assistance in cases where they are targeted due to their professional duties.
The complaint includes accusations of false crime reporting, defamation, insult, and publishing misleading information with the intent of damaging the officer’s personal and family reputation.
The officer asked the prosecutor to order a judicial investigation to identify those behind the account and hold them accountable for the alleged offenses.
