Fuel prices in Morocco remained unchanged on Saturday, the scheduled date for the country’s semi-monthly fuel price review, according to industry sources.
A source at a local gas station told Hespress AR that there has been no change in the price of diesel or gasoline as of Saturday, August 16.
This price stability follows several consecutive increases in recent months, particularly at the onset of the summer season.
During the mid-July fuel update, diesel prices increased by 0.20 dirhams per liter, while gasoline prices remained steady.
International oil markets closed lower on Friday, according to Reuters, as traders await upcoming talks between former U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which could potentially lead to a loosening of sanctions on Russia.
Brent crude was trading at approximately $66.85 per barrel, reflecting a 15% drop. Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) fell to around $62.80 per barrel, marking an 18% decline.
Markets are currently focused on the Trump-Putin summit, with analysts noting that any diplomatic breakthrough could impact the flow of Russian oil, and subsequently influence global oil prices.
