Saudi renewables giant ACWA Power has secured two major photovoltaic projects in Morocco, NOOR Midelt 2 and NOOR Midelt 3, following an international tender led by the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN).

Each project will deliver 400 MWp of solar capacity, paired with battery storage systems totaling 602 MWh, enabling 230 MWac during peak hours.

Developed under a Build-Own-Operate model, both plants will operate under a 30-year Power Purchase Agreement with MASEN, aimed at reinforcing Morocco’s grid reliability while accelerating the country’s transition to renewables. The projects are expected to avoid 1.2 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

“This marks a key milestone in our partnership with Morocco,” said ACWA Power CEO Marco Arcelli. The company, already active through NOOR I–III, NOOR PV I, and the Khalladi wind farm, now manages 765 MW in the country.

ACWA Power says the projects will create local jobs and contribute to regional development in line with Morocco’s 2030 energy goals.
