AS Roma officially announced today, Saturday, the signing of Moroccan midfielder Neil El Aynaoui. The 23-year-old joins the Italian club from French side RC Lens on a contract extending until 2030. Financial details of the transfer weren’t disclosed.
Neil El Aynaoui is the son of former Moroccan tennis star Younes El Aynaoui. He quickly shared his excitement with Roma fans on social media, saying he was thrilled to join “the Wolves” and couldn’t wait to play his first game at the Stadio Olimpico.
Born in Nancy, France, in 2001, El Aynaoui started his football career at a local academy. He made his senior debut in 2021 and then spent two strong seasons with RC Lens, scoring 17 goals and providing 8 assists in 130 matches.
Roma signed him to boost their midfield, and he’ll wear the number 8 jersey. His father has confirmed Neil will play for the Moroccan national team, with talks ongoing with coach Walid Regragui.
