Moroccan striker Tawfik Bentayeb of Anderlecht was taken to hospital on Saturday evening for examinations after suffering a blow to the head during his team’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Zulte Waregem, according to his coach, Vitor Bruno, as quoted by the newspaper ‘Le Soir.’
Bentayeb, who scored the opening goal and was involved in the other two goals for the Brussels club, suffered a “head-to-head collision” with a Zulte Waregem defender.
The Moroccan international initially continued the match despite the collision and later provided the assist for Anderlecht’s second goal. He also contributed to the third goal before asking to be substituted.
A graduate of the Mohammed VI Football Academy, Bentayeb is among the 29 players called up by national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi for the training camp preparing for Morocco’s upcoming international fixtures.
Bentayeb joined Anderlecht this summer from Troyes, where he finished as Ligue 2’s top scorer with 20 goals. He was signed by the Brussels club for €4.5 million, including bonuses.
