Five major Moroccan construction firms have secured a landmark MAD 605 million ($60 million) contract to develop the access roads leading to the Grand Stade Hassan II in Benslimane, one of Morocco’s key venues for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Supervised by Morocco’s national highway company, the tender saw fierce competition from international bidders, including Chinese and French companies. Ultimately, the winning bids went entirely to Moroccan firms.
The contract has been split into four main lots:
Houar won the first section for MAD 32.9 million.
SSMT secured the second for MAD 148.9 million.
Magazyn took the third at MAD 190.5 million.
The fourth and largest portion, valued at MAD 251.3 million, was awarded to a joint venture between Alto Trav and ImacoTra.
The companies will carry out critical roadwork, excavation, and the construction of strategic engineering structures to facilitate access to the future stadium.
Separately, Moroccan giants TGCC and SGTM previously won the MAD 3.2 billion ($320 million) contract for building the second phase of the stadium, making it one of Morocco’s largest-ever sports infrastructure investments.
Designed by a British firm, the Hassan II Stadium will seat 115,000 spectators and occupy a 100-hectare site in the Benslimane province, part of the Casablanca–Settat region. Its architecture will feature a tent-like exterior inspired by Morocco’s seasonal festival traditions.
Scheduled for completion by December 2027, the stadium will be connected to major highways and public transport networks, and surrounded by sports villages and recreational zones.
