BRICS nations issued a unified call on Sunday for an immediate, permanent, and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, urging Israel to fully withdraw from the Gaza Strip and all other parts of the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
The statement was released during a summit in Rio de Janeiro and comes as truce negotiations between Israel and Hamas resumed in Doha.
“We exhort the parties to engage in good faith in further negotiations to achieve an immediate, permanent and unconditional ceasefire,” the bloc said.
The bloc also condemned recent military strikes on Iran, referring to attacks since June 13, 2025, without directly naming the United States or Israel. Iran, a BRICS member, received strong backing at the summit.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday. Trump has said he hopes a ceasefire agreement can be reached within days.
