Two people were killed early Tuesday in a high-speed crash on a Casablanca highway, reportedly caused by an illegal street race involving luxury vehicles, authorities said.

Eyewitnesses said on social media that the drivers of two high-end cars were racing when they lost control, triggering a violent collision that resulted in the deaths of two other motorists — one operating a transport tricycle and the other riding a motorcycle known locally as a “33.”

Emergency responders, including health services and civil protection units, arrived swiftly at the scene, as seen on various social media posts. The victims were pronounced dead at the site and their bodies were transferred to the morgue at Mohammed V Hospital.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage online, with users condemning reckless driving and calling for stricter enforcement of traffic laws.

Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the crash and identify those responsible.
