Resignations at Maersk subsidiary in Tangier over alleged arms shipments to Israel

At least eight employees at the Tangier Med 2 branch of the international shipping company APM Terminals, a subsidiary of the Danish conglomerate Maersk, have submitted their resignations in protest against the company’s alleged involvement in transporting U.S.-made weapons to Israel.

According to exclusive information obtained by Hespress AR, the resigning workers denounced what they described as “intense pressure” from the company, which they accuse of being complicit in supplying arms used in what they call the ongoing genocide against civilians in the Gaza Strip.

Sources at the port revealed that two additional employees resigned in recent days, citing the recent docking of an American ship reportedly loaded with weapons destined for Israel.

The cargo, according to these sources, is expected to be transferred onto smaller vessels operated by Maersk for direct delivery to the Israeli port of Haifa in the coming days.

The workers claimed that the company attempted to coerce them into unloading the shipment, and when most refused, management allegedly handpicked long-serving employees—many of whom are not unionized—to carry out the task. The workers believe this move was designed to pressure or even force resignations.

The arms shipments through Tangier reportedly began in November after Spain refused to allow its ports to be used for such operations.

Many of those who resigned are said to be technical staff with access to detailed cargo information, and they accuse the company of using various tactics to obscure the contents and final destinations of the shipments, including altering cargo serial numbers.

Those who stepped down now plan to pursue legal action against the company, accusing it of workplace coercion and ethical violations tied to the controversial shipments.
