Tanger Med port has once again stood out as the top-performing container port on the African continent and in the Mediterranean amid evolving trade patterns and geopolitical upheavals, reports the French daily La Tribune .
The French business newspaper notes that this massive port, ranked 16th globally, which serves in particular to export locally manufactured Renault vehicles to Europe while also serving as a key partner to CMA CGM, a global player in maritime transport and logistics, handled more than 11.1 million TEUs in 2025, an 8.4% increase over the previous year.
“Founded less than twenty years ago, Tanger Med now boasts a throughput higher than that of Los Angeles,” the publication emphasizes, citing the latest report from “Lloyd’s List”.
According to La Tribune, this performance “is primarily due to the commissioning of the TC4 terminal expansion,” operated by the Dutch company APM Terminals, a subsidiary of the Danish group A.P. Moller-Maersk.
While analysts had predicted an overall slowdown in traffic due in particular to disruptions linked to the war in Iran and trade fluctuations, these factors actually contributed to the overall momentum, the publication concludes.
