Morocco imported over €559 million worth of medical and pharmaceutical products from the European Union in 2024, up from €482 million in 2023, according to new data from Eurostat, the EU’s official statistics agency.
Meanwhile, Moroccan exports of medical products to the EU slightly declined, totaling €20 million in 2024 compared to €21.2 million the previous year.
Eurostat also reported that EU pharmaceutical exports surged by over 13% last year, reaching a record €313 billion. Imports rose modestly by 0.5% to €120 billion, resulting in a record trade surplus of €193.6 billion in the sector.
Germany led EU pharmaceutical exports at €68 billion, followed by Ireland (€56 billion) and Belgium (€41 billion). Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands were also top importers.
The U.S. remained the EU’s largest pharmaceutical trade partner, accounting for €119 billion in exports. Switzerland and the UK followed, while the U.S. also led EU imports, contributing nearly €46 billion.
