A medical team at a private clinic in Casablanca recently treated a critical case involving a woman in her thirties who accidentally put a pin in her throat while adjusting her hijab.
Medical examinations, including a CT scan, revealed that the pin had lodged in her larynx, requiring an urgent and delicate surgical intervention.
Under the supervision of an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist and an anesthesiologist, the medical and nursing team successfully removed the pin using a laryngoscope in a procedure performed under general anesthesia and with the aid of a camera.
The incident highlights the unexpected risks associated with common daily practices among women who wear hijabs. Doctors urge caution and advise against holding sharp objects between the lips while securing headscarves or engaging in similar activities.
Health professionals emphasize the importance of awareness and preventive measures to avoid such accidents, stressing that minor details can sometimes lead to serious medical complications.
