The Moroccan Ministry of Interior announced on Friday that regional mixed inspection committees conducted 4,988 field interventions between March 2 and March 26, 2025. These efforts led to the closure of 531 unauthorized wholesale, retail, production, and storage facilities.
According to an official statement received by Hespress, the ministry emphasized that these inspections are part of its ongoing vigilance to safeguard public health and protect citizens’ purchasing power. The committees have intensified market monitoring to curb price manipulation, speculation, and other illegal practices that could harm consumer rights.
The inspections resulted in the seizure of 239,402 kilograms of non-compliant products, with 65% of the confiscated goods being either expired or unfit for consumption. Authorities have also launched legal and judicial proceedings against 327 individuals found in violation of regulations.
The ministry reaffirmed that these committees will continue their operations regularly, focusing on enhanced coordination and stricter enforcement of laws governing pricing, competition, and consumer protection.
