Cement sales, a key indicator of construction activity, rose by 12.6% in the first two months of 2025, following a 7.5% increase in the same period last year, according to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF) under the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

This growth was driven by strong performances across various sectors, including ready-mix concrete (+24.5%), distribution (+7.7%), prefabricated materials (+24.4%), infrastructure (+5.4%), and buildings (+4%), as noted in the DEPF’s recent economic report.

The growth of outstanding real estate loans accelerated to 2.8% by the end of January 2025, compared to just 0.7% a year earlier, reaching a total of 311.8 billion dirhams (billion MAD).

This increase includes a 1.9% rise in housing loans, maintaining the same growth rate as the previous year. Meanwhile, loans to real estate developers surged by 7.7%, marking the highest growth recorded in the last eight years, compared to a modest 1.4% increase a year ago.
