Astronomical calculations for Ramadan indicate that it will end on March 30, 2025, with Monday, March 31, being the likely date for Eid Al-Fitr.
Experts predict that Ramadan in Morocco will last 29 days this year instead of the usual 30. This is a common occurrence, determined by moon sighting. According to specialists, the new moon crescent is expected to appear on the night of the 29th day of Ramadan.
However, these predictions are merely indicative, as Morocco follows the traditional method of moon sighting to determine the start and end of Ramadan.
On the evening of the 29th day of the lunar month, official observers from the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs are assigned to sight the moon from over 100 locations across Morocco.
The observation is done precisely at sunset, and based on the sighting or non-sighting of the new moon, the Ministry will announce the official date for Eid Al-Fitr.
If the moon crescent is observed, the next day will mark Eid, and the month of Shawwal will begin on the lunar calendar.
This year, the observation will take place on the night of the 29th of Ramadan 1446 AH, which corresponds to Sunday, March 30, 2025, and it will be determined whether Ramadan will last 29 or 30 days.
It is also worth noting that a few days after Ramadan, Morocco will revert to GMT+1 time instead of the current GMT. The time change is scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 2:00 AM.
