The Moroccan Confederation of Very Small, Small, and Medium Enterprises said in a statement that it’s not satisfied with how the government is rolling out its new employment plan.
The confederation said that the government only consulted big companies while completely ignoring small businesses—the very ones that create most jobs in the country.
The confederation said they were left out of discussions about how financial support will be given to businesses.
The statement added that the selection process and the way the money is handed out might not be fair. Since small businesses are the main employers, the confederation said that leaving them out of the conversation could make the whole plan ineffective.
The group is calling on the government to involve them in every step of the process, stating that for the plan to work, support must be given based on real needs, not just to companies that already have money.
Many small businesses struggle to get bank loans or funding at reasonable interest rates, so missing out on this support could be a big blow.
The confederation also urged the government to be clear about how the money will be distributed, making sure that the smallest businesses—those that need help the most—aren’t left behind.
The confederation insists that this support should actually help small businesses grow, create jobs, and contribute to the economy, instead of just benefiting large corporations.
To keep things fair, the confederation called on the government to put in place strong monitoring systems, stating that there should be regular progress reports to make sure the money reaches the right businesses and is used properly.
