Moroccan rapper Medy Cartier faces trial for child pornography
Thursday 20 February 2025 - 19:45

Italian-Moroccan rapper Medy Cartier, whose real name is El Mehdi El Marbouh, has been ordered to stand trial on charges of sexual assault and child exploitation material.

Born in Italy to Moroccan parents and residing in Bologna, Cartier has a criminal record and is already known to law enforcement for multiple offenses. The latest allegations stem from complaints filed by a young woman who was a minor at the time of the incidents, according to a report by the Italian newspaper Il Giornale on Wednesday.

Now 19 years old, the alleged victim claims that on December 31, 2023, El Marbouh coerced her into engaging in filmed sexual acts. Although she initially resisted, she ultimately felt unable to refuse due to the rapper’s pressure. Prosecutors assert that the footage was later distributed to third parties. However, the accused maintains that the acts were consensual.

El Marbouh has previously served time in prison for violating parole conditions. Authorities have placed him under a special police surveillance order, considering him a high-risk individual.
