Moroccan-Dutch kickboxer Badr Hari has been released from custody following a three-day police investigation into an alleged assault against his ex-wife, sources close to the athlete confirmed to Hespress EN Tuesday.
Hari, 39, was detained Sunday on suspicion of assaulting his ex-wife, the mother of his five children, according to Dutch media reports.
Police have not disclosed details of the incident but confirmed that he was being detained as the investigation progresses.
Dutch authorities eventually determined there was no need to hold Hari beyond the three-day investigative period, Hespress EN sources stated, highlighting Hari is now free to resume his activities, including those in Morocco.
The same source additionally indicated that the alleged incident between Hari and his former partner stemmed from a dispute over child custody arrangements, as Hari is currently in the midst of divorce proceedings.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the case remains open.
Hari, a former K-1 World Grand Prix champion and entrepreneur, has had a career marked by both success in the ring and legal troubles.
