The Moroccan national team suffered a 4-1 defeat to Colombia on Thursday evening in their opening match of the Kings League, held in Italy.
Colombia dominated the match from the outset, scoring their first goal just four minutes into the game. They added two more goals late in the first half, capitalizing on missed opportunities and a lack of cohesion among Morocco’s players, led by captain Mbark Boussoufa.
The second half saw Colombia extend their lead with a penalty in the 21st minute, bringing the score to 4-0. Morocco managed to find the net through a strike by Fouad El Amrani, their sole goal of the match.
In the closing minutes, Nadir Louah missed a penalty for Morocco, sealing the final score at 4-1 in favor of the Colombians.
The Kings League features a seven-a-side format, including a goalkeeper and six outfield players, with two 20-minute halves and unlimited substitutions allowed.
Next, Morocco faces Ukraine, who suffered a heavy 5-0 loss to Turkey earlier in the day. The upcoming match is a crucial opportunity for Morocco to keep their hopes alive in the tournament.
