Ali Ridouan, president of the Association of Parents and Friends of Children with Disabilities, is urging the Moroccan government to improve the management of education for children with disabilities. Ridouan hopes the newly formed government will conduct a thorough evaluation of the current situation.
The support of education for children with disabilities faces a variety of challenges, including issues related to the timing of funding for associations and the management of specialized professionals, such as social workers, medical staff, and paramedics. These professionals are contracted by associations through the National Cooperation Foundation, which operates under Morocco’s Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family.
In his role as vice-president of the Federation of Associations Working in the Field of Disabilities, Ridouan explained that these challenges are compounded by the involvement of multiple stakeholders and the ongoing difficulties in managing the sector. “We have faced significant struggles with the timing of grants for associations working in the disability sector,” he noted.
Ridouan is calling for a new approach to managing the issue, one that is built on efficiency standards used by governments worldwide. He urged the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family to adopt such an approach to improve the services provided to children with disabilities and their families.
