A Moroccan disability rights organization has criticized what it described as obstacles facing people with disabilities in registering on electoral rolls, citing procedures that it said undermine equal access and participation.
In a statement, the Moroccan Organization for the Rights of Women with Disabilities said registration requirements, particularly in person procedures at local administrative offices, create exclusionary barriers that conflict with principles of equality and equal opportunity.
The group said the online registration platform lacks adequate digital accessibility, while reliance on paper forms at district offices fails to provide reasonable accommodations. It said this forces many people with disabilities to rely on others, compromising their independence and the protection of personal data.
Organization president Samira Bakhti said the practices violate constitutional guarantees and international conventions on the rights of persons with disabilities.
She called for accessible registration procedures that ensure data confidentiality and enable people with disabilities to exercise their constitutional right to political participation on an equal footing.
The Interior Ministry has said voter registration for the 2026 annual revision remains open until Dec. 31, 2025, either through local administrative offices or via the official online platform.
