Algerians launch social media campaign against military rule
Thursday 19 December 2024 - 13:06

Algerians have launched the hashtag #مانيش-راضي (“I’m Not Satisfied”) on social media to express their dissatisfaction with the current regime.

The movement, reminiscent of the 2019 Hirak protests, is calling for an end to military rule and the establishment of a civilian government.

Videos circulating on social media show Algerians denouncing the country’s deteriorating political and social conditions under military control.

Many citizens are criticizing the repression of free speech and the growing security measures affecting everyday life, including long queues for basic goods.

The campaign, which builds on the momentum of the 2019 protests, accuses the government of mismanaging the country’s resources and prioritizing separatist projects over the needs of the population.

Activists are demanding the end of military dominance, which they claim is exacerbating poverty and limiting freedoms.
