The Royal Armed Forces, along with elements of the Royal Gendarmerie, successfully responded to 75 fires across the Kingdom in 2024, using several aircraft, including the Canadair and Turbo Tracker planes.

These aircraft carried out 54 interventions over a total of 127 flight hours, according to a presentation by Abdellatif Loudiyi, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, during the National Defense Budget Project discussion in front of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs, and Moroccans Abroad Committee in Parliament.

The Moroccan official revealed that three aircraft were deployed for assistance in Portugal, conducting 18 operations over 30 flight hours.

He also noted that “Rabat contributed to providing aid to Palestine following the recent events there, by carrying out numerous direct flights to deliver this assistance.”

Loudiyi praised the interventions of the armed forces in the floods of the southeastern regions and other areas, especially in cities like “Oujda, Bouarfa, Figuig, Errachidia, Ouarzazate, and Tata.”

On the subject of illegal immigration, the minister disclosed that “14,943 people were rescued from drowning and death, and approximately 24,483 illegal migration candidates were apprehended.

Following these operations, the Royal Gendarmerie dismantled 149 criminal networks involved in illegal migration and investigated 508 individuals working within these networks.

For this purpose, the Royal Gendarmerie deployed logistical resources, including aircraft that carried out 457 surveillance missions, with 712 flight hours, and drones.”

Loudiyi explained that the Royal Navy addressed illegal activities, seizing around 30,000 kilograms of narcotic substances this year, along with significant quantities of smuggled goods.

The Royal Navy also took on duties related to “fisheries policing and ensuring the sustainable management and exploitation of marine resources.”

These units monitored 1,095 fishing vessels, 530 of which were found to be in violation, in addition to maintaining marine ecological balance and implementing government directives in this area.

Concerning the fight against drug trafficking, the Moroccan official outlined that the Royal Gendarmerie recorded over 9,100 cases, dismantled 47 criminal networks, and seized 198 tons of various types of drugs, along with more than 1,300 vehicles.

In terms of counter-smuggling, 75 cases were registered, resulting in the arrest of 58 individuals and the seizure of 52 vehicles.

In the field of cybersecurity, Loudiyi revealed that “in 2024, 644 incidents were reported, of which 134 required field interventions by the Computer Emergency Response Team (maCERT).”

“The Directorate also issued 1,050 alerts and 575 security bulletins, and carried out 25 interventions in Security Operations Centers (SOC) across seven regions to address threats immediately. Moreover, 64 critical electronic and mobile platforms were assessed and reinforced, and 16 alerts were issued regarding critical security vulnerabilities.”
