France Football, a magazine published alongside L’Équipe, has unveiled the final results of the contentious 2024 Ballon d’Or voting, sparking debate across the football world.
According to L’Équipe, Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior who claimed the second spot, missed the top honor by a narrow margin, prompting Real Madrid to boycott the awards ceremony in protest. Reports indicate that Rodri received 1,170 points, just 41 points ahead of Vinícius, who garnered 1,129 points.
The Ballon d’Or went to the Spanish midfielder Rodri, whose impressive season included winning the English Premier League with Manchester City and the UEFA European Championship with Spain.
