Police in Casablanca arrested seven individuals on Thursday, including six foreign nationals and one Moroccan, on charges related to a deliberate hit-and-run accident, bodily harm, and endangering public safety.
According to security sources, the incident unfolded after a dispute between several individuals in downtown Casablanca escalated into a confrontation involving off-road vehicles. One of the suspects intentionally ran over an opponent, injuring them with varying degrees of severity.
The police swiftly intervened following reports of the altercation, leading to the arrest of all seven suspects and the seizure of three four-wheel-drive vehicles used in the incident. Additionally, authorities discovered a sum of money in one of the vehicles, and an investigation is underway to determine its source and circumstances of possession.
Ongoing investigations have also allowed authorities to identify the victim of the attack, who is currently under medical supervision in a private clinic, receiving necessary treatment for their injuries.
The seven individuals have been placed under provisional detention as directed by the public prosecutor’s office. Investigations are continuing to uncover the full details and motivations behind the incident.
