Renowned Moroccan artist Oum has been appointed National Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations AIDS program in Morocco, a recent announcement at the Taragalte Festival in Mhamid El Ghizlane revealed.
“Oum’s appointment as National Goodwill Ambassador is a powerful step forward in our efforts to fight against HIV in Morocco,” said Houssine El Rhilani, UNAIDS Country Director for Morocco.
According to a press release by UNAIDS, Oum will work to promote awareness and education around HIV prevention, while focusing on fighting against the stigma and discrimination faced by people living with HIV in Morocco.
“As an artist, I have a platform to reach many people. It is my duty to use my voice to advocate for people living with and affected by HIV who are often unheard,” the singer said.
