In the opening day of the Marrakech Air Show, Moroccan officials and Boeing announced a partnership to create the African Center of Manufacturing Excellence (ACME).
The agreement was signed by Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour, National Defense Administration Minister Abdellatif Loudiyi, and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University President Hicham El Habti.
The advanced manufacturing research center will focus on innovation in Morocco’s aeronautical ecosystem.
As part of the partnership, the 100% Moroccan company NTS Technics was selected as an engineering partner.
With Boeing’s support, NTS Technics aims to achieve design level 3 status and become an approved engineering supplier.
This initiative follows an industrial offset agreement signed on February 8, 2023, intended to expand the collaboration between Morocco and Boeing.
The partnership seeks to enhance the Moroccan aeronautical industry through innovation and strengthened engineering capabilities.
“Investing in Morocco’s future and building a solid aeronautical footprint for future generations is at the heart of this alliance,” Mezzour said. He expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to position Moroccan industry as a global leader in aeronautics.
ACME will be the first R&D center in Africa with the “Boeing label,” utilizing a consortium model that encourages collaboration among various sectors.
It will bring together academia and industry to develop innovative solutions and add value to its members. Key focus areas will include advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0, automation, and new materials, enhancing Morocco’s role in research and development.
