Heavy rain with occasional thunderstorms, gusty winds, hail, snowfall and cold weather are forecast from Monday to Wednesday in several Moroccan provinces, announced the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) in an orange-level alert bulletin.
Rainfall ranging from 35 to 50 mm (1.4 to 2 inches) will affect the provinces of Taourirt, Figuig, Guercif, Boulemane, Errachidia, Tinghir and Midelt from Monday at 1:00 pm to Tuesday at 6:00 am.
Similarly, 25- to 35 millimeter (1- to 1.4-inch) rain will fall on Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the provinces of Ouarzazate, Al Haouz, Sefrou, Taza, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Mdiq-Fnideq, Fahs-Anjra and Al Hoceima, Tangier-Assilah, Guercif, Taourirt, Driouch, Boulemane, Mohammedia, Sidi Bennour, Berrechid, Casablanca, Mediouna, Nouaceur, El Jadida, Benslimane, Midelt, Tinghir and Errachidia.
The same phenomenon, with 40- to 70-millimeter (1.5- to 2.8-inch) rainfall , is forecast from Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. to Wednesday at noon in the provinces of Larache, Ouezzane, Chefchaouen, Skhirate-Temara, Sale, Rabat, Sidi Kacem, Kenitra, Berrechid, Sidi Bennour, Casablanca, Benslimane, Mohammedia, Nouaceur, El Jadida, Mediouna and Safi.
In addition, areas of an altitude above 2000 meters (6500 feet) in the provinces of Boulemane, Azilal, Khenifra, Ifrane, Beni Mellal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Midelt, Guercif and Ouarzazate are expected to experience snowfall ranging from 10 to 40 cm (3.9 to 15.8 inches) from Monday at 1:00 p.m. to Tuesday at 6:00 a.m.
On the other hand, cold weather, with minimum temperatures ranging from -3 to 3°C (26 to 38°F), is forecast from Monday through Wednesday in the provinces of Azilal, Béni Mellal, Al Haouz, Midelt, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Boulemane, and Ifrane.
