Abdelmalek Esaâdi University has firmly denied allegations that it accepted students of Israeli nationality, following a wave of controversy fueled by regional press reports.
In a press release, the university’s president expressed astonishment at the circulation of these claims, emphasizing that they were not verified by university management.
The statement criticized the dissemination of false information during a sensitive time, asserting that it undermines the university’s academic integrity.
The presidency reiterated its openness to inquiries from journalists and warned against falling victim to attempts at blackmail, which occur at the start of each academic year.
The university has faced backlash on social media and protests organized by the National Union of Moroccan Students in Tetouan and Tangier, condemning what they termed “academic normalization.”
University President Bouchta El Moumni stated that these accusations are baseless and clarified that the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) is responsible for determining the acceptance of foreign students.
When questioned about potential errors in the university’s computer system, El Moumni dismissed the notion, asserting that images circulating online were fabricated. He stated that the university is willing to conduct an examination of its computer systems to validate its claims.
