A Spanish court sentenced a Mallorca fan, who previously racially abused Real Madrid player Vinicius Jr and former Villarreal player Samuel Chukwueze, to 12 months in prison in addition to a three-year stadium ban.
The supporter was found guilty of “two crimes against moral integrity, aggravated by the fact that he acted with racist motives,” Real Madrid announced on Thursday.
The prison sentence may be suspended if the defendant, who apologized and expressed regret in a letter to Vinícius Júnior, participates in a program promoting equality and non-discrimination, according to Real Madrid’s official website.
This marks the third criminal conviction in recent months related to racist abuse targeting Real Madrid players, particularly Vinicius Jr.
