Morocco’s foreign exchange dynamics demonstrate continued resilience, driven by a surge in foreign direct investment (FDI), according to the latest figures of the Exchange Office, under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

During the fiscal year’s first half, net FDI inflows surged by 51.6% to reach 10.62 billion dirhams, representing a large rebound from the previous year’s decline and underscoring the growing confidence of international investors in Morocco’s economic prospects.

Returns on investments grew by 8.6%, reaching over 18.58 billion dirhams. Conversely, expenditures fell by 21.2%, dropping to 7.96 billion dirhams, according to the Exchange Office.

The uptick in FDI can be attributed to several factors. The country’s strategic geographic location, coupled with its political and economic stability, has created a favorable investment climate, while the government’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, streamline regulations, and enhance the business environment have yielded tangible results.

Morocco’s burgeoning automotive, aeronautics, and technology sectors have emerged as key magnets for foreign capital. The country’s strategic position in the global supply chain, particularly in the electric vehicle battery sector, has further solidified its appeal to investors.

Experts anticipate that this positive FDI trend will persist, driven by the country’s ambitious development plans.

The upcoming 2030 World Cup is expected to catalyze investment in various sectors, including tourism, infrastructure, and transportation.

Additionally, the ongoing expansion of the high-speed rail network presents opportunities for foreign companies to participate in the development of related industries.
