Morocco is set to introduce stricter regulations for personal mobility devices, such as scooters and pedal-assisted bicycles, according to Transport and Logistics Minister Mohamed Abdeljalil.

The minister announced that two draft decrees are being reviewed to amend existing vehicle and road traffic laws.

Before the House of Representatives Infrastructure Committee on July 9, Abdeljalil highlighted the need to clarify definitions and establish technical standards for these vehicles, including new regulations will also outline traffic rules to ensure road safety for all users.

As part of a broader effort to improve public transportation and road safety, the Ministry is revitalizing regional road safety commissions and promoting bicycle and bus safety initiatives.

Local authorities have already begun enforcing stricter regulations on scooter use, including helmet mandates and speed limits.
