PJD calls for early elections, cites UK and France as inspiration

In a recent statement, Abdellah Bouanou, leader of the parliamentary group of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), advocated for early elections to assess citizens’ trust in the government led by Akhannouch.

Bouanou stated during the PJD parliamentary group’s weekly meeting on Monday that the call for early elections is “not driven by party logic or an attempt to disrupt the government, but rather a call for democratic practice that values citizens and the importance of their trust in parties and political life.”

According to Al3omk, the leader of the PJD parliamentary group cited  the UK and France—where early parliamentary elections were scheduled in response to a drop in popular confidence in the ruling parties—to demonstrate his case.

He emphasized that these countries did not hesitate to seek public opinion again, highlighting the importance of popular trust in democratic governance.

Bouanou criticized how public affairs are currently run, pointing out the economic and social issues that have sparked strikes and protests in several sectors.

He emphasized the deterioration of purchasing power, exacerbated by rising inflation, and pointed to persistent issues of corruption and conflicts of interest marking the current administration.

He also stated that «Israel’s brutal aggression against Gaza has influenced the outcomes of early elections in the UK and France” and welcomed «the defeat of the parties that supported Israel» in those countries.

In conclusion, Bouanou called for a re-evaluation of public trust through early elections, asserting this could lead to better representativity and governmental accountability.
