Sources deny cancellation of cultural and sports events

Informed sources assure Hespress that there is no cancellation of artistic or sports events in Morocco, after the unofficial news that Rabat’s Mawazine festival and Essaouira’s Gnaoua festival were canceled following the death of Princess Lalla Latifa, wife of the late King Hassan II and mother of King Mohammed VI.

The sources told Hespress that the statement of the Royal Palace Spokesperson did not refer to any declaration of national mourning following this sad news, and therefore all cultural, artistic and sporting events will continue as scheduled.

Organizers of the Gnaoua and World Music Festival notified all journalists assigned to cover the event that the final events will be held as scheduled, after previously notifying that all press interviews scheduled for Saturday had been canceled.
