A total of 18 people were admitted to the Hassan I hospital, in Tiznit, as of Thursday, for food poisoning after eating at a fast food restaurant.

According to Hespress sources, some patients, including two women and two children, are under close medical supervision due to the severity of their symptoms.

The tally of affected individuals is expected to increase, especially since most of the cases reported on Thursday are from rural communities surrounding Tiznit, which suggests there may be more cases yet to reach the hospital.

The fast food restaurant had previously been warned by a joint committee in Tiznit after an inspection in February uncovered quantities of minced meat and turkey meat that were unfit for consumption.
